Transforming Spring Pure: A Case Study in Website Redesign

Hello everyone! I’m David Grubb from Shepherds Loft Web Design Agency. Today, I’m excited to share a significant project we recently undertook—a website redesign for Spring Pure. This endeavor was both complex and rewarding, showcasing the importance of content organization for maximizing leads.

Project Overview

Our client, Bill, approached us with the desire to redesign and rebuild his website, which needed to effectively present both his residential and industrial water purification services. The residential side can be found at springpure.com, while the industrial services fall under the branding of ATR (Applied Technology Resources).

To kick off this project, we utilized the Wayback Machine to review the previous website. This provided insight into the challenges we faced and guided our strategy for improvement. Working closely with Bill, we realized that a strong partnership was essential to navigate the complexities of presenting two distinct customer bases on a single platform.

Understanding the Business

Spring Pure specializes in providing clean water solutions, offering testing and tailored systems for both residential and commercial customers. Bill aimed to emphasize the residential services to increase visibility in the local market, which made our content organization crucial.

The Challenge: Organizing Content

One of the biggest hurdles in redesigning an existing website is visualizing the overall architecture, especially when dealing with numerous pages. Think of it like assembling a puzzle: to create a cohesive image, you need to organize the pieces. We approached this by grouping content by themes, similar to sorting puzzle pieces by color.

For this project, the website’s structure included key pages like Home, About, Industrial Services, Residential Services, Testimonials, and Contact. Our goal was to create a seamless navigation experience that allowed users to easily find the information relevant to them.

A Closer Look at the Original Site

The original design featured a slideshow on the homepage, which, while visually appealing, often moved too quickly for visitors to absorb the information. Moreover, it lacked clear calls to action, making it challenging for users to engage further.

We also noted issues with layout and readability. The presence of multiple logos and colors created visual chaos, detracting from the site’s professionalism. Testimonials were mixed between residential and industrial, adding to the confusion.

Redesigning for Success

With all this feedback in mind, we set out to create a cleaner, more focused design. The new homepage immediately addresses the needs of both residential and industrial customers. Key elements include:

  • Clear Calls to Action: We placed immediate options for requesting a free water test or a bench test, aligning with the distinct needs of each customer segment.
  • Cohesive Branding: By placing the logos within individual boxes, we created a balanced visual presentation, allowing each brand to shine without competing for attention.
  • Focused Content: We emphasized the importance of clean water and provided informative sections about Spring Pure’s services, all while ensuring easy navigation.

Navigating the New Design

The redesigned site allows users to easily access either residential or industrial information. Each section is tailored to the audience, ensuring that users find relevant content without unnecessary clutter.

  • Residential Side: Features a dedicated form for free water testing, with questions specific to homeowners’ needs.
  • Industrial Side: Offers a separate form that gathers essential information relevant to businesses, including the type of contaminants they need to address.

This targeted approach not only enhances user experience but also equips Bill with valuable information to better serve his clients.

Conclusion

The transformation of Spring Pure’s website was a substantial undertaking, and I’m proud of the collaborative effort between Bill and our team. By organizing content effectively and creating a user-friendly design, we’ve set the stage for increased visibility and lead generation.
