Ellijay Web Design build from scratch to generating leads in 6 months Shepherds Loft helped Michael Sheehan, a drywall contractor, improve his business through branding and website development. We created a logo and brand identity, wrote Michael’s story for the website, and focused on keywords such as ‘drywall’ and ‘drywall installation.’

Despite designing the website without many photos, we emphasized the importance of providing clear explanations and support throughout the process. The new website has helped generate leads and improve Michael’s Google search rankings, resulting in the success for his business. Hello, I’m David Grubb from Shepherd’s Loft Web Design Agency.

Today, I want to share the story of our client, Michael Sheehan of Michael Sheehan Drywall. Michael approached us in November 2023 with a pressing need: he wanted to expand his business but was struggling to generate leads.

The Challenge

At that time, Michael had only a Facebook page and a Google My Business listing, which had just one review from five years ago. He didn’t have a website or a professional logo. His branding was limited to a graphic used on his T-shirts, which wasn’t helping him stand out.

The Business Goal

Michael’s goal was clear—he needed a robust online presence to attract more leads. Motivated and eager to grow his business, he turned to us at Shepherd’s Loft. We began by developing Michael’s brand and identity.

Creating a Logo

Using the graphic from his T-shirts, we refined and enhanced it to create a professional logo for Michael Sheehan Drywall. This new logo, while inspired by his original design, was tailored to better represent his business.

Telling The Story

Next, we crafted a compelling story for Michael’s business. This narrative helped us design engaging content for his new website. Building a website from scratch can be challenging, especially when starting without existing content, but Michael’s story gave us a strong foundation.

Keywords

We focused on essential keywords like “drywall,” “drywall installation,” “drywall repairs,” and “contractors,” which helped in optimizing the website for search engines. The design of the site was inspired by Michael’s preference for colors associated with clovers—green and blue—reflecting his local roots in the Blue Ridge, Jasper, and LJ areas.

Experience

Michael’s extensive experience—30 years in LJ, over 2,000 completed projects, and a background as an Eagle Scout with a family of six—was woven into the site’s content. Despite the challenge of sourcing high-quality images for a drywall business, we used what was available and created a website that effectively showcased his services.

Web Design

The website is a streamlined, single-page design featuring a lead form, customer testimonials, FAQs, and a call-to-action for quotes. Since launching the site in January, Michael has been generating more than one lead a month, a significant improvement over his previous situation.

Moreover, with his new website, Michael now ranks second on Google, just below Angie’s List. Although platforms like Angie’s List are valuable for backlinks, they can be tough to surpass.

Nonetheless, Michael’s website is performing well, and he has gained additional Google reviews in the past few months. Michael was thrilled with the results. We guided him through every step, from branding and content creation to website design and launch.

Lead Generation

His newfound online presence is successfully driving leads and helping him market his business more effectively. This project is a great example of how Shepherd’s Loft can transform a business with no online presence into a lead-generating machine.
